MYOFASCIAL RELEASE | PAIN, TENSION & SCAR THERAPY

Release. Restore. Reconnect.

Myofascial Release is a therapeutic, hands-on treatment designed to relieve pain, reduce restriction, and restore ease of movement within the body. Grounded in remedial massage principles, this treatment works with the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, joints, and organs—to address the underlying causes of tension rather than simply the symptoms.

Fascial restrictions can develop due to stress, injury, surgery, repetitive strain, or postural patterns. These restrictions may lead to discomfort, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Through slow, intentional techniques, the fascia is gently encouraged to release, allowing the body to return to a more balanced and integrated state.

WHAT IS FASCIA?

Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue that links every structure of the body. When healthy, it is flexible and allows for smooth, pain-free movement. However, when it becomes tight or adhered, it can create widespread tension and compensation patterns.

By addressing these restrictions, Myofascial Release supports improved mobility, reduced pain, and enhanced body awareness, while also encouraging the nervous system to settle into a calmer state.

SCAR THERAPY

This treatment may also incorporate specialised scar therapy to support the healing and integration of scar tissue. Scars from surgery or injury can create adhesions within the fascia, leading to discomfort, sensitivity, or restricted movement. Gentle, targeted techniques help to soften and mobilise these tissues, improving circulation and restoring functional movement.

Scar therapy can be beneficial for:

  • Caesarean (C-section) scars

  • Abdominal or surgical scars

  • Orthopaedic surgery scars

  • Injury-related scars

All scar work is performed with sensitivity and only once the tissue has fully healed.

BENEFITS

Therapeutic Benefits

  • Reduction of muscular and fascial tension

  • Improved mobility and flexibility

  • Enhanced posture and structural balance

  • Release of neck, shoulder, and back discomfort

  • Support for recovery from injury or surgery

  • Encouragement of nervous system regulation

Scar Therapy Benefits

  • Reduction of adhesions and tightness

  • Improved tissue mobility and elasticity

  • Decreased discomfort or sensitivity

  • Support for post-surgical recovery

  • Enhanced integration of scar tissue with surrounding fascia

INTEGRATED TECHNIQUES

To enhance therapeutic outcomes, your session may incorporate a range of supportive modalities, including:

  • Remedial massage techniques to address muscular tension and support pain relief

  • IASTM (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation) to gently mobilise soft tissue and reduce adhesions

  • Therapeutic cupping to lift and decompress tissues, improving circulation

  • Trigger point therapy to relieve referred pain patterns

  • Scar therapy to soften adhesions and improve tissue mobility

  • Red light therapy (LED) to support tissue repair and reduce inflammation

  • Nervous system-focused techniques to encourage deep relaxation

Each modality is thoughtfully integrated based on your individual needs and treatment goals.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR SESSION

Your session begins with a brief consultation to understand your concerns and areas of restriction. Treatment may be focused on specific regions of discomfort or delivered as a comprehensive full-body session, particularly during the 90-minute appointment.

Techniques are applied slowly and intentionally, allowing the fascia to respond without force. Clients often experience a sense of deep relaxation as the nervous system settles and the body begins to unwind.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Following your session, you may notice:

  • Reduced pain and muscular tension

  • Improved range of motion

  • A sense of lightness and ease within the body

  • Enhanced posture and body awareness

Mild soreness may occasionally occur as the body integrates the changes and typically resolves within 24–48 hours. Staying well hydrated and engaging in gentle movement can support this process.
